As two volcanoes emerged from an emerald sea thousands of years ago, they gave birth to what has become known as' the island of love' or 'Queen of the Pacific'. The mountainous interior is adorned with deep valleys, swift invigorating rivers, impressive and accessible waterfalls, intact barrier reef, beautiful white and black sand beaches, all bathed in a rich green iridescence of Mother Nature's light.
The coastal lands, edged with pristine rugged coastline, are home to fields of tropical flowers and most of the islands population. It is also the largest of all the Tahitian islands at 651 square miles and serves as the international point of arrival for all the other fabulous nearby islands. The capitol of Papeete offers visitors numerous treasures, the colorful market, art and history museums, flower gardens, animated nightlife and cultural exhibitions such as the traditional 'Heiva' which provides a lively change of scenery full of folklore, dancing, singing, colors and fragrances.
Tahiti is an island with a tranquility that invites a gentle way of life. Along its beautiful sandy beaches, one can practice scuba diving over old shipwrecks, sail, surf, or explore numerous natural or archeological sites.
